Volunteers... The heart of the mission

In a panic, Karen reached out to us for help with her leaking roof.  The water was coming through her bathroom ceiling.  When our team went to the home to assess the roof they noticed Karen was in need of other modifications to help her “Age in Place” in her home.  In addition to replacing her roof, Habitat volunteers repaired Karen’s bathroom to include a raised toilet and walk in shower.   “Now I don’t have to hold on to the bathroom sink to get in the tub.  The shower is going to make it so much easier and safe for me.  Everyone working on my house is so nice, they are angels.”    Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity’s Housing Plus Aging in Place program’s goal is to help seniors age safely in their own home.  To learn more about our program, click HERE.
