#GivingTuesday – What You Need to Know and How You Can Help

#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement built by individuals and communities in the US and in countries around the world. On #GivingTuesday, millions of people come together to support and champion the causes they believe in by donating and fundraising on their behalf.

This year #GivingTuesday falls on November 28th. In celebration, Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation are partnering once again on a national campaign to support nonprofits.

On #GivingTuesday, Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will be matching up to $2 million of funds raised on Facebook for US nonprofits. Facebook is also waiving its fees for donations made to nonprofits on Facebook this #GivingTuesday.

Donations to Northern Ocean Habitat made through Facebook’s charitable giving tools on November 28th will be matched up to $50,000 or $1,000 per fundraiser or donate button, until the $2 million in matching funds run out. The match will begin at 8AM EST (5AM PST). 

Every gift helps a family build a foundation. With your financial support, families in northern Ocean County can build strength, stability and independence with Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity by building or repairing a safe and secure place to call home. Families who partner with Northern Ocean Habitat build and repair their own homes alongside volunteers, pay an affordable mortgage or cost recovery and are grateful for your help.

Supporting Northern Ocean Habitat on #GivingTuesday

There are many ways to take advantage of the matching funds and give back to Northern Ocean Habitat on Facebook. Here are some easy ways to get started:

Create a Facebook fundraiser:

Visit Facebook.com/fundraisers, click “Raise Money,” and select Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity for your fundraiser. Share it on your page and ask your friends, family and followers to support you. 

Add a donate button to your Facebook post or live video

  • Write a Post: Tag Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity or add “#donate” to your post. You’ll see a prompt to add a donate button after you post. 
  • Go Live: Tap “Live” at the top of your News Feed on mobile, and click “Add Donate Button” from the menu. Tell your friends, family and followers why you love Northern Ocean Habitat and ask them for their support.
