Habitat is a Hit at GCU Club Day
Lakewood, NJ — Georgian Court University, home of an active Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter, holds “Club Day” at the beginning of each fall semester to showcase and acquaint new students with the many clubs and organizations available for students to join.
Northern Ocean Habitat was a major presence at the event — meeting students, sharing our mission, and showing our faith in action.
Habitat’s Maureen Ward and Jeff Schaffer, GCU’s Director of Campus Ministry, staffed our mission table.\
Habitat’s construction team, including Bob Conway and Todd Reinhardt, along with construction volunteers Bill Dudeck and Arnie Oftedal showed students how to safely use power tools.
By the end of the day, Habitat and student volunteers had built a total of ten 2’x8’ planters, which will be donated to group homes run by 21plus and The ARC of Ocean County. Residents there will plant them with herbs and vegetables.
