‘A Night of Hope – Habitat at the Grenville’ Event a Huge Success
BAY HEAD, N.J. – Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity’s first annual A Night of Hope at the Grenville this past Friday evening was a huge success; the event raised over $21,000 for affordable housing and home repair efforts in northern Ocean County. Special thanks were extended to Harry Typaldos of the Grenville Hotel, TD Charitable Foundation, and the Grunin Foundation. Also thanked were the M&T Charitable Foundation, M&T Partnership for Community Development, the IGH Foundation, and the Wells Fargo Foundation. Special thanks are also in order for the many businesses who donated gift baskets raffled off during the event.
The event was sold out with many communities within northern Ocean County represented. With the success of this event, and the cooperation of the Grenville Hotel, Northern Ocean Habitat looks forward to making this an annual event in Bay Head.
During the evening, a special message was read that was sent from Mayor William Curtis of Bay Head. Additional presentations were made by individuals who have benefited directly from Northern Ocean Habitat to include new homeowners, Sandy Repair Program beneficiaries, and home repair beneficiaries.
To date, the Northern Ocean County affiliate has completed 17 new homes, 60 Hurricane Sandy rebuilds and over 147 home repairs. Northern Ocean Habitat also operates the ReStore, a furniture and home goods store and donation center at 1201 Lakewood Road, Toms River (soon to relocate to Route 37). Volunteers are always needed to help continue efforts in northern Ocean County – be they in construction, volunteering, administratively or assisting ReStore operations.
