Northern Ocean Habitat ReStore to Relocate to Former Bob Kislin’s
TOMS RIVER, N.J. – The Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity ReStore will have a new home later this year. After 16 years of operation at their current location on Route 166 in Toms River, the ReStore is making the move up to Route 37 and will occupy the former Bob Kislin’s Outdoor Sports storefront. Kislin’s, a local favorite, closed its doors in 2015 after 40 years of operation.
The ReStore is a nonprofit home goods store and donation center that sells gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials and more at a fraction of the retail price. Shopping at the ReStore is a thrill of discovery; with new donations arriving daily and rapid-changing inventory; you never know what you may find. All of the items in the ReStore are generously donated by the public and funds raised are used to directly support the construction of affordable housing and repair projects by Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity.
The ReStore helps prevent usable items from ending up in the landfill and, in turn, provides lower-cost building materials and household goods to the general public. For every $1 in sales, 1.3 pounds of material are kept out of local landfills.
Furniture for sale at the Habitat ReStore is in great condition as is, but some pieces that are perceived as outdated may get overlooked. With just a little imagination and perhaps a coat of paint or some new hardware, an old cabinet, table or chair can get new life as something fresh and unique. It’s a process many refer to as “upcycling,” which UpcycleThat.com defines as: “The act of taking something no longer in use and giving it a second life and new function. In doing so, the finished product becomes more practical, valuable and beautiful than what it previously was.”
If you are looking to get rid of furniture or household items, the ReStore will pick-up for free if you are a resident of northern Ocean County. A tax donation receipt is also provided. Whether you’re looking to furnish your home, in search of a do-it-yourself project, or looking to donate items, the ReStore has you covered.
The ReStore will continue operating out of its current location at 1201 Lakewood Road, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Looking to get involved?
