Ocean County Board of Realtors Donate to Northern Ocean Habitat
The Ocean County Board of Realtors presented Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity with a check for $2,000 to benefit new home construction and repair projects for local,
low-income residents. The check was for a grant sponsored by New Jersey Realtors® Housing Opportunity Foundation, Inc. Northern Ocean Habitat recently broke ground on their seventeenth new home in the Manitou Park section of Berkeley Township for Marjorie and her two children. This is the fourth home to be built in Manitou Park as part of ongoing neighborhood revitalization efforts.
In addition to donating monetarily, the Ocean County Board of Realtor’s Community Service Committee donated their time on ‘A Brush with Kindness’ repair project in Bayville. The homeowner was a single, disabled, low-income mother of two young adults who both suffer from neurological, lung and blood disorders. She applied for several programs and organizations in hopes of finding someone to perform roof work and other repairs on her home before finding Northern Ocean Habitat. The Ocean County Board of Realtors sanded, painted and stained the entire back deck and replaced all rotted spindles. They also power-washed and stained the back fence and seeded grass patches in the yard. Habitat was able to provide a sub-contractor to repair the homeowner’s leaking roof.
